Broadband Value Chain Media Release
To understand competition within the South African broadband industry, ICASA has launched a study of the electronic communications network and services value chain. This study aims to:
- Define the different stages involved in delivering broadband services (the value chain).
- Identify any areas where competition is weak or lacking within the value chain.
- Propose solutions to address these issues with competition.
The findings from this study will equip ICASA with the information needed to draft regulations under section 67(4) of the Electronic Communications Act (EC Act). These regulations will aim to promote a more competitive broadband market.
The following section outlines ICASA’s proposed schedule for this initiative.
